Cancer sufferers in WA’s Mid West are being urged to speak up and encourage others not to ignore early warning signs.

Cancer Council WA’s Find Cancer Early campaign aims to tackle complacency by sharing the cancer stories of people aged 40 and over.

People in regional WA are up to 30 per cent more likely to die within five years of a cancer diagnosis than Perth residents, according to the organisation.

Cancer Council WA regional education officer Kate Raston said the alarming figure could be attributed to a low awareness of early symptoms and delays in seeking medical attention.
